How to make a pink skirt?

Merry Christmas everyone!

Made a video today for the first time ever. Have a look? Now I understand the tendency for You Tubers to talk cute. It's hard not to laugh at my blank expressions as I was watching myself. I had a hard time keeping my voice from squeaking...

Thank you to new followers Valerie, belindvhv, Joy, madi_thehottie_23, miss mino li and Vivian!

Oh by the way, if you're going Boxing Day shopping tomorrow, We Don't Care Inc. will be at Melbourne Central collecting gifts to pass on to Vinnies. Bring your unwanted gifts or shopping steals and pass on the holiday cheer to someone who needs it! We'll be in the florescent cube at Shot Tower Square (the clocks/Jurlique) on the ground floor. Come and say hello!

Wishing you all a wonderful and restful holiday.

The Fashion Fund Media Launch

The Fashion Fund Media Launch @ The Grand Ballroom, the Hotel Windsor Melbourne
We had our media launch at the Hotel Windsor last night! They were kind enough to lend us their Grand Ballroom with wait staff- and it looked really impressive! Sportsgirl gave us access to their visual merchandising warehouse, so we hauled over a vanload of vases, crates and candles to create a beautiful room. And we had the best cheese platters and champagne from Farmgate Cheese. I took this shot- no Photoshop required. Quote of the night came from one of our models, Hannah- "I look awesome!". Hahaha. More pictures to come!

The Fashion Fund - confirmed!

Some of the clothes on sale at The Fashion Fund - Lookbook shoot thanks to the Windsor Hotel Melbourne by James Pipino.

I am so excited to cordially invite you all to The Fashion Fund!

When: Saturday the 24th of September,10am - 7:30pm

Hosted by We Don't Care Inc, this event will showcase donated clothes from Melbourne's fashion crowd, including brands such as Hermes, Marc Jacobs, and Armani.

Proceeds raised for Victoria's homeless through chosen charities - SWAGS (shelter), Credo Cafe (food) and Kids Under Cover (opportunity)

I am especially excited about Kids Under Cover! They are organising for homeless people to enrol in TAFE or practical training colleges, giving them the chance to gain skills, qualifications and therefore employment in the long run! SWAG provides backpacks which double-up as a tent & sleeping bag- so homeless people don't look 'homeless'!

My godbrother Rando recently told me about how he gave a homeless man $40 for accommodation. The reason why it cost so much for one night's stay (a normal backpacker's hostel is around $20-$25) was because the man told Rando that he was a recovering drug addict, and a regular backpacker's is full of drug users. So he needed a place to stay but one without the temptation.

The reason why this event is so... pretty... is because We Don't Care Inc. is made up of young people, and we want to attract Gen-Y's to get into social justice. Volunteering is so much more relevant when you're doing it with people your age.

Come, come, come, and bring your friends!

We Don't Care

Hello everyone! Firstly just some apologies for not updating as often these days. But I promise, there's a good reason for this- I've been asked to help out with a new non-profit organisation, We Don't Care Inc (WDC).

The aim of WDC is to bridge Gen-Y's with volunteering opportunities/social justice initiatives. You know that feeling you get when you see a situation where help's needed, and you want to help, but somehow, you can't? Because you don't know who to ask, none of the other volunteers are your age, or the way in which the help is structured doesn't quite fit in with the person you are? WDC tries to create events and channels in which young people can help in a way that's distinctly young.

We Don't Care started off with its first project, WDCA (We Don't Care About) magazine, which should see the launch of its first issue later this year. As Gala Darling recently quoted, our generation might also be called the 'Magpie Generation', meaning the things that appeal to us have to be presented in a considered, design-y, and generally gorgeous manner.

And what's more relevant than popular culture? WDCA as envisioned by its creator, is 'a culture magazine talking about social justice'. Let's see if content like this will get your attention:

The other project of WDC is The Fashion Fund, which is an event raising awareness for Victoria's homeless. We'll be selling pre-loved designer and vintage pieces to raise funds. We managed to get Federation Square for our pop-up store!

We shot our lookbook two weeks ago:

I'll be working with Shen for the visual merchandising and the whole look of the event. So excited! It's going to be hopefully, something memorable.

So that's what I've been doing :) Please forgive me for the sporadic timing of my posts. And if you'd like to get involved, please head over to the WDC Facebook page and feel free to ask us anything.
